We take pride in handcrafted baked goods, beautifully plated tea services, and elegant hospitality. We're seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. Position Summary: The Kitchen Assistant helps support the tearoom’s daily kitchen operations through ingredient prep, baking assistance, and production support. This position works closely with the Lead Chef/Baker to ensure a smooth, efficient kitchen that delivers consistently beautiful and delicious items. A willingness to help in other areas of the restaurant when needed is key. While experience is preferred, management is willing to train the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: Assist with daily preparation of ingredients for baked goods, sandwiches, and tea platters Scale, mix, portion, and bake pastries, scones, and other menu items as directed Help with assembling and plating food items with attention to presentation standards Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, prep areas, and equipment Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to the Lead Chef/Baker Follow all kitchen safety, food handling, and sanitation protocols Dishwashing, deliveries, and other kitchen duties Be flexible and willing to assist front-of-house staff during special events or peak hours, or light outdoor work such as shoveling/salting/snow blowing on occasion. Qualifications: Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, bakery, or prep role preferred Basic baking knowledge and comfort using standard equipment (mixers, ovens, scales) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team Able to lift 40+ lbs and stand for extended periods A calm, team-focused attitude and a desire to contribute to a peaceful, high-quality environment Job Type: Part-time Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour Benefits: Employee discount Work Location: In person
