The role works closely with legal and claims teams and has authority to make claim decisions.What You'll DoManage large-loss and catastrophic CGL claims, including New York Labor Law (Sections 200, 240, 241)Investigate claims, identify coverage issues, liability defenses, and risk transfer opportunitiesReview construction contracts, indemnification agreements, and insurance policies to determine coverage priority and risk transferWork with defense counsel to manage litigated claims through resolutionEvaluate liability, damages, and exposure using pleadings, medical records, depositions, and expert reportsNegotiate claim resolution through settlement, mediation, or trial preparationSet and adjust indemnity and expense reservesInterview insureds, claimants, witnesses, and expertsProcess indemnity and expense paymentsAttend hearings, mediations, trials, and settlement conferences as neededQualificationsWhat We're Looking For10+ years of experience handling commercial general liability (CGL) or BOP liability claims5+ years of experience handling New York Labor Law claims, including litigated claims with exposures of $500,000+Bachelor's degree required; JD and active attorney license preferredExperience reviewing insurance policies, coverage issues, and construction-related contractsExperience managing litigation strategy and motion practice for construction liability claims in New YorkStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage a high-exposure claims caseloadExperience using claims management systems and standard business toolsAbility to travel as needed
