Website/Digital Publishing Specialist

The Mountaineer, a trusted community newspaper serving Haywood County and Western North Carolina, is seeking a Website & Digital Publishing Specialist to help manage and grow our digital presence across web, mobile, and advertising platforms.This position is ideal for someone who is creative, organized, tech-savvy, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly. The successful candidate will work closely with multiple departments, including editorial, advertising, marketing, and production, to ensure our digital products remain engaging, functional, and effective for readers and advertisers alike.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and update website content using a content management system (CMS)Build and manage digital layouts and content containers/pagesAssist with website presentation, organization, and user experienceMonitor and interpret website analytics and audience dataManage digital advertising placement and campaignsCollaborate with editorial and advertising teams on sponsored and promotional contentTroubleshoot website-related issues and communicate with support teams when necessaryAssist with newsletters, digital publishing workflows, and audience engagement initiativesHelp maintain visual consistency across digital platformsQualificationsWorking knowledge of website management and CMS platforms (WordPress experience preferred)Familiarity with HTML and basic web structure conceptsAbility to understand and interpret website analytics and digital performance metricsExperience with Adobe Creative Suite and CanvaKnowledge of digital advertising platforms such as Google Ad ManagerStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to multitask and work effectively under deadlinesComfortable collaborating across departments in a team-oriented environmentExperience in publishing, media, marketing, or digital communications is a plusWhat We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and eager to help a community newspaper continue evolving in the digital space.
