Position SummaryHopkins | Lacy, the mechanical, electrical, plumbing division of Branch Group is searching for a Sheet Metal Field Superintendent. The Field Superintendent is jointly responsible with the Project Manager for the overall success of any project. They are responsible for scheduling, controlling costs, and managing resources on an assigned project. They also provide continuous field supervision while performing hands on installation as part of the crew of all construction operations. The Field Superintendent aims to attain or exceed profit goals and promotes workplace safety while meeting or exceeding company expectations. They also promote a positive company image and is the leader on their assigned project, ultimately responsible for its operation success.Duties/ResponsibilitiesThis position is part of the crew and is require to perform field work labor majority of the time.Works with tools in the field when needed / requiredBuilds and sees through project in accordance with all project contract documents, plans, and specificationsEnsures compliance with all building codes, local ordinances, and company guidelinesBecomes thoroughly familiar with project contract documents, payment methods, plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders, shop drawings, key dates, liquidated dates, and all other documents relevant to the projectEnsures accurate layout of work in accordance with project plans and specifications and verifies sameResponsible for maintaining professional relations with company owner, the project engineer, and all other members of the construction teamEnsures that appropriate parties are notified regarding changes or concerns in the construction planParticipates in pricing of changed/additional workWith the Project Manager, the Superintendent develops/updates a Grand Plan/Schedule of operation and effectively communicates this plan to employees. Ensures that appropriate parties are informed regarding major changes in the construction plan, schedule, means, and methods or allocation of resourcesIdentifies, measures, and reports to PM work changes as they pertain to contract documents. Participates in pricing of changed/additional work. Documents, or delegates documentation, or all additional work performed via daily reports/Superintendent's diariesIn concert with the Project Manager, and prior to beginning work, develops a Grand Plan/Schedule of operation and effectively communicates to all employees. Reviews schedule during project to ensure deadlines are met, notifies appropriate parties of all delays or potential delays, and documents delays. With the PM, makes sure than schedule is updated.Participates in the preparation and communication of construction execution plan, progress schedule, and projection of labor and equipment requirements* Supervises subcontractors (if applicable) to ensure quality and schedule requirementsDuties/Responsibilities Cont.Clearly conveys potential risks and areas of concern to the PM. Works in concert with the PM to resolve conflicts and mitigate risksIs responsible for on-site safety meetings and implementation of effective safety proceduresPrior to construction, reviews with Project Manager and submits comments of detail budget, time restraints, cost codes, and purchase controlAccurately documents labor and equipment usage so the costs reflect the actual work performed in the field.Establishes a contractually acceptable level of quality by which all completed work is measuredIs responsible for on-site safety meetings and implementation of effective safety programsIs responsible for meeting all OSHA and VOSHA standards and the enforcement of the Miss Utility policy for the entire projectIs responsible for recruitment, deployment and termination of hourly field personnel in accordance with company business needs and policies.QualificationsAbility to make decisions in high pressure environmentActs with professional, ethical mannerismsUnderstands building systems and their interface with each otherMaster's license in Sheet Metal (preferred)High School Diploma or EquivalentWorking knowledge in standards, specifications, codes, regulations, and laws8-10 years' experience in construction3-5 years' experience in supervisory positionHigh School level mathematic and language skillsValid Driver's License/Maintain Branch Group "Approved Driver" statusGenuine concern & sense of urgencyAbility to keep up morale on the jobCompetenciesLeadershipManaging ConflictJob KnowledgeWork Environment/SafetyOWNERSHIP | EXCEPTIONALISM | RELATIONSHIPSTravelTravel is frequently required to and from and between job site locations.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position will oversee foreman and craft workers.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. They will need to stand (approximately 60%), walk (approximately 30%), and sit (approximately 10%). The employee will also need to be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, talk, and hear. The employee will need to be able to carry up to 75lbs, lift up to 100lbs, and move up to 200lbs.
