đ Bioinformatics Engineer | South San Francisco | HybridA rapidly growing biotech company transforming DNA sequencing and genomics infrastructure is hiring a Bioinformatics Engineer to join their team in South San Francisco.The company has grown to over $80M ARR while remaining fully bootstrapped and is building production-scale genomics infrastructure used by thousands of scientists, biotech startups, Fortune 100 pharma companies, and Nobel Prize winners.đ° Compensation:⢠Up to $190K base salary⢠Competitive equity⢠Relocation assistance availableđ Location:Hybrid in South San Francisco (3 days onsite weekly)What Youâll Do:⢠Build production-grade bioinformatics pipelines processing thousands of sequencing samples daily⢠Develop algorithms and workflows for genomic data analysis⢠Work on microbial genomics, variant calling, RNA-seq, and sequencing infrastructure⢠Improve sequencing data quality, scalability, and automation⢠Collaborate closely with a high-ownership biotech engineering teamđĽ Must Have:⢠3+ years developing production bioinformatics pipelines⢠PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Statistics, Physics, or related field⢠Experience at a fast-moving biotech startup or high-ownership environment⢠Strong expertise in at least one of the following:Microbial genomics / metagenomicsVariant calling / large-scale genomicsBulk or single-cell RNA-seq⢠Significant experience with Nextflow and/or Snakemake⢠Hands-on experience with Illumina or Oxford Nanopore sequencing⢠Strong Python, Docker, Apptainer, Git, and GitHub experienceâ Nice to Have:⢠Experience building bioinformatics products, not just pipelines⢠Contributions to novel bioinformatics tools or algorithms⢠Strong ownership mentality and startup mindsetâ ď¸ Important:⢠We are not looking for candidates who have worked only in academia⢠Candidates should have industry or startup experience building scalable production systemsThe ideal candidate enjoys high ownership, fast execution, and building impactful genomics infrastructure used in real-world scientific discovery.
