This role serves as the final authority on Batch Production Record (BPR) approvals, ensuring all required steps, verifications, and documentation are completed accurately before production progresses or products are released.QA acts as a gatekeeper to production, with the authority to stop or prevent progression when standards are not met.This role operates at the intersection of Production, Compliance, and Data Integrity, ensuring all departments remain aligned with quality and regulatory standards before any product progresses.Key Responsibilities BPR Review & ApprovalReview and approve all Batch Production Records (BPRs) at required checkpoints, including:Pre-production (formulation approvals)All Work-In-Process (WIP) stages (grind, infusion, blends, filling, rolling, etc.)Packaging & Label Inspection ReportsFinal Batch Record Review after final packagingEnsure all required fields, calculations, and documentation are complete and accurateEnforce “no blanks, no approval” standardTurn approved BPRs into Data Entry within 1 business day Production Quality OversightVerify accuracy of inputs/outputs across all production stagesEnsure proper execution of documented procedures within BPRsIdentify and flag errors, inconsistencies, or deviations in real timeEnforce requirement that no production progresses without QA approval Sampling & Testing CoordinationSubmit and manage all product sampling through Confident CannabisCoordinate:R&D testingCompliance testingManage COA change requests (internal and vendor-related)Ensure accurate documentation of all sample submissions and resultsNotify Inventory Team of sampled consumables thru the Sample Testing Log Packaging & Release AuthorizationReview and approve Packaging & Label Inspection Reports prior to production releaseEnsure all packaging components and labeling meet compliance standardsPrevent packaging or final production without QA sign-off Compliance & SOP SupportPartner with Compliance to:Develop and refine SOPs related to BPR processesBuild and support training materialsEnsure adherence to internal SOPs and regulatory requirementsParticipate in audits, process improvements, and compliance initiativesPerform monthly mock audits to ensure compliance readiness Error Tracking & Continuous ImprovementTrack recurring BPR and production errors in our internal Error TrackerWeekly reports will be sent to National Compliance and Regional Production Managers for reviewIdentify top issues and support corrective actionsParticipate and support in retraining efforts for repeat errorsEscalate issues when defined thresholds are exceeded Cross-Functional CoordinationWork closely with:ProductionInventoryData EntryComplianceEnsure smooth handoffs between departmentsSupport alignment on timelines:QA review: 1 business dayData Entry processing: 1 business dayCandidate QualificationsRequired SkillsStrong understanding of regulated production environments (cannabis, pharma, food manufacturing, or similar)Proven ability to enforce compliance standards in real-time operational settingsHigh attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies across documentation and physical processesStrong conflict management skills with the ability to push back on production teams when standards are not metProficiency in data tracking and reporting (Google Sheets or equivalent)Ability to interpret and apply SOPs in dynamic production environmentsClear and concise written communication for audit-ready documentationExperience2–5 years in a quality assurance, compliance, or production control role within a regulated manufacturing environmentDemonstrated experience in cross-departmental collaboration (Operations, Legal, QA, Production)Experience with SOP management and developmentExperience reviewing or approving batch records, production logs, or equivalent documentation requiredExperience participating in audits or inspections strongly preferredPrior experience in cannabis manufacturing highly preferredEducationBachelor's degree in Business, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, or equivalent experienceSuccess
