If you are interested in a challenging opportunity in a high-energy, team-oriented environment, you are encouraged to apply.Job Summary:Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator I, Supervisor this position resides in the Accounting Branch, State Operations Section – Accounts Payable Unit. The State Operations Section’s primary responsibilities are general accounting process for state agencies (payroll, invoice payments, direct transfer payments, etc.). The Accounts Payable unit performs all non-grant claim payments, direct transfers, service contract and purchase order payment, telephone, utilities bills and other miscellaneous invoices.The Senior Accounting Officer, Specialist, will independently perform the more difficult accounting duties which require an understanding of the entire accounting process, such as coordinating implementation of accounting for new programs/functions; review proposals to change accounting procedures; prepare cash analysis reports for management; coordinate completion of year-end reports. The incumbent is responsible for working directly with various control agencies (State Treasurer’s Office, State Controller’s Office, Department of Finance, and California State Auditors) and acts as a liaison with other state offices on behalf of Cal OES. Coordinate and resolve the most complex issues such as purchase orders and memorandum of understanding, etc. Prepare the more complex reports for management. The Directorate is comprised of four sections: Administrative Services, Human Resources, Grants Management and Logistics.In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description.
