You are committed to providing the best service possible to Santa Barbara County Education Office departments, employees, and applicants.General descriptionAs a member of the Personnel Commission staff who reports directly to the Director of Human Resources, you will: perform a full range of professional analytical work associated with merit system human resources for classified (non-teaching) employees, including crafting innovative recruitment strategies, developing and validating skills assessments, and collaborating with hiring managers to maintain a highly qualified workforce. Under direction, the incumbent will also classify positions and conduct salary studies.You’ll also get to work on exciting projects such as:enhancing the employee onboarding experienceintegrating our HR systems and platforms and refining our processesdeveloping training for managers on HR-related topics.This position is based in Santa Barbara, and the incumbent will be required to work on-site.RequirementsEducation: Possession of a bachelor's degree in human resources, public or business administration, psychology, social sciences, or related field. Additional related professional experience may be substituted for up to two years of the required higher education on a year-for-year basis.Experience: Two years of professional experience in human resources that included one or more of the following: employee recruitment; applicant sourcing; examination development; position classification; and compensation administration. A master’s degree in a closely related field may be substituted for up to one year of required professional experience.Experience in public sector human resources and/or a merit system is preferred.CompensationHiring range: $88,476-$101,952 (current top salary: $114,888); plus a 4% salary increase effective July 1, 2026Click here to learn more about our employment process, then complete our online application.For more details about the position, please refer to the position announcement.
