Summary / Role PurposeThe R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of LS-DYNA and related software products. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives. To be considered for this position, successful candidates must have an in-depth understanding of finite element method and related computational mechanics principles, strong programming skills, adequate academic or industrial experience in the related fields, and ability to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerforms moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systemsUnderstands and employs best practicesPerforms moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutionsUnderstands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issuesWorks under the general supervision of a development managerMinimum Education/Certification Requirements And ExperienceBachelor’s Degree with 2 years of professional experience, or Master’s Degree in Aerospace, Biomechanical, Mechanical Engineering, or other natural science disciplineWorking experience with technical software development proven by academic, research, or industry projects. Good understanding and skills in programming.MUST be located (or able to relocate) to Livermore, CA onsite at our Ansys office (hybrid working schedule is allowed)Preferred Qualifications And SkillsMaster’s Degree or PhD PreferredTechnical knowledge and experience with finite element simulation (e.g. LS-DYNA, Ansys), and CAD modeling.Background in computational solid mechanics, numerical methods, and preferably on high-performance computing on C/GPUs.Knowledge of fluid mechanics, electromagnetics, computational geometry, or computer graphics is an advantage but not a must.Experience with Fortran or CGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
