Group Leader for After-School Program/Summer Camp
RequirementsEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED requiredAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or related field preferred Experience working with youth (ages 8-18) in an after-school, school, or community setting preferred Experience leading group activities, sports, or enrichment programs strongly preferredKnowledge & SkillsAbility to manage and supervise groups of up to 10-12 studentsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsBasic understanding of youth development and behavior managementAbility to plan and facilitate structured activities (academic, recreational, or creative)Ability to follow schedules and program routines (3 PM - 6 PM) or (10 AM-2 PM)Strong organization and time management skillsCore ResponsibilitiesSupervise and ensure the safety of all assigned students at all timesFacilitate daily structured activities, including:Homework timeGroup ActivitiesRecreational/athletic programmingMaintain student engagement and participationReinforce program expectations and positive behaviorTrack and maintain daily attendance and sign-in sheetsAssist with program events (e.g., Bingo nights, contests, activities) Support program setup and cleanup dailyProgram-Specific Expectations Encourage academic completion before activitiesPromote teamwork, leadership, and social-emotional development Participate in outdoor activities (weather permitting)Assist with monthly themed programmingSupport student recruitment and community engagement effortsOperational ResponsibilitiesPrepare and distribute snacks and materialsMaintain and clean program equipment and activity spacesFollow opening and closing procedures, including securing the facilityReport incidents, concerns, or supply needs to supervisorWork RequirementsAvailability during program hours: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM -6:00 PM / Summer Hours: 10:00am-2:00pmAbility to work occasional evening events (e.g., Bingo Nights)Reliable attendance and punctuality requiredClearances & Compliance Must pass background check and fingerprintingAbility to comply with Burlington County and agency policiesPreferred QualitiesCompletion of any required trainings and onboarding requirementsEnergetic, positive, and engaging personalityAbility to take initiative and work independentlyStrong role model for youthFlexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environmentSPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS: A Group Leader is responsible for creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment where students can learn, grow, and participate in meaningful after-school activities.
