This leadership role will oversee the design, development, and continuous improvement of our permanent handling conveying product lines, driving innovation in grain handling and storage solutions while managing a team of talented engineers.Responsibilities:Lead and mentor a team of application engineers and designers, focused on permanent handling conveying application engineering product developmentPartner with product development and manufacturing engineering to continue developing and improving our engineering standards and manufacturing processesServe as a technical partner to external customers during the application engineering and design process for specific projects, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements, performance expectations, and operational constraints.Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team and internal stakeholdersConduct performance reviews, establish development plans, and support career growth for team membersRecruit, hire, and onboard top engineering talent to build a high-performing teamDrive the strategic direction and roadmap for the permanent handling conveyance product line enhancements and new product developmentOversee all phases of product development from concept through design, testing, validation, and production launchEnsure designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, and AGI quality expectationsIdentify opportunities for product cost reduction, performance improvement, and manufacturability enhancementsManage multiple concurrent engineering projects, ensuring on-time delivery to manufacturing within the project constraintsCollaborate cross-functional with manufacturing, quality, sales, and supply chain teamsEstablish project timelines, resource allocation, and success metrics for engineering initiativesProvide regular status updates to senior leadership on project progress, risks, and mitigation strategiesMaintain deep technical knowledge of grain handling equipment, material conveyance systems, and industry best practicesChampion the use of modern engineering tools, methodologies, and processes (CAD, FEA, PLM systems)Support field troubleshooting and root cause analysis for product performance issuesStay current with emerging technologies and competitive products to maintain AGI's market leadershipQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related engineering disciplineMinimum 8 years of engineering experience in product development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management roleProven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and delivering complex projectsStrong technical foundation in mechanical design, structural analysis, and manufacturing processesExcellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skillsProficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) and PLM systemsPreferred:Master's degree in Engineering or MBAExperience in the agricultural equipment, grain handling, or material handling industriesDesign background with grain augers, conveyors, or bulk material handling equipmentProfessional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtainExperience with lean manufacturing principles and value engineering methodologiesFamiliarity with industry standards and safety regulations (ASAE, OSHA, CSA)Ability to travel for up to 25% of the timeWhy AGI?We're leading the way in global food supply chain solutions and here's how:We're the leading global expert in providing farmers, processors and commercial customers with the right equipment and customized engineering solutions to produce, protect and deliver the world's grain, fertilizer, seed, feed and food supplies.
