This description is intended to outline primary job duties, qualifications and scope, but not to limit the employee nor the organization to adjust the work identified to ensure the success of our endeavors.Level 2 CarpenterThe Level 2 Apprentice Carpenter is a semi-skilled position that will be responsible for a variety of different project builds for both commercial and residential properties. This position will work under the Journeyman/Lead Carpenter to help construct, install, and repair buildings. The Level 2 Apprentice Carpenter must be able to work independently, follow directions well, and be proficient in the use of all tools and equipment required for the job.The requirements and responsibilities below include but are not limited to the following:APPLY NOWResponsibilitiesCompliance with OSHA and company safety rules and regulationsCapable of operating power tools and discerning the correct tools for the jobIndependently construct and/or build small carpentry projects as directed by the supervisorMeasure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materialsLoad transports, unloads materials, tools, equipment, and suppliesDirect and assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces during installationClean work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job siteProficient in reading blueprints, architectural details and construction layoutsPerforms and ensures accurate and quality work within a set timeCapable of operating large equipment as needed, i.e. forklift, backhoe, excavator, etcComplete other responsibilities as assignedRequirementsAlways have a “safety first and for all” thought processProficient knowledge of carpentry and math skillsProficient in operating and discerning all tools and equipment required for the jobMust be able to pass a background check, including driving record, and drug screenMust possess a valid driver license in the State of Oregon and have valid insuranceFollow directions intently and comfortable asking questions for clarityIs reliable, respectful and accountable for all workMust have proficient knowledge of construction processes to perform duties of this positionMust be physically fit and have the ability able to lift at least 50 lbs.Positive team playerEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma (or equivalent) requiredCurrent First Aid/CPR certificate a plusMinimum of 3 years of verifiable carpentry and/or apprentice skillsPersonality ProfileReliableConscientiousPunctualAccountableRespectfulTeam Work AttitudeJob ConditionsEach project will define and dictate the actual workweek, workdays, and working hours. Any work time in excess of 40 hours per week must be preapproved. Failure to obtain preapproval for work time in excess of 40 hours per week is a basis for disciplinary action. It is the expectation of SunWest Builders that each employee will satisfy the unique workday requirements for each project as necessary.The position will, at times, require heavy lifting (of at least 50 lbs.) and the use of heavy equipment.The position will require 8 hours a day of walking, standing, climbing, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and stretching; to include pulling, pushing, and lifting of construction materials and equipment.Work may be inside or outside, depending on the work schedule.
