Job DescriptionVP, Market Research (Remote or Hybrid)Research and Analytics Services | Method CommunicationsThe OpportunityThe Vice President of Research at Method Communications has deep expertise in qualitative, quantitative and secondary within the B2B technology space. They will be responsible for building and supporting a strong research practice and new service offerings and products to expand Method’s research practice area.They are responsible for growth and optimization of profitable research and insights or analytics practice and service offering within the agency.This role guides the agency on ways in which Method can expand and grow the research practice area. This role will lead business development and team development efforts in research. With a focus on increasing research-related revenue for the agency, this role will proactively meet with agency team leads, subject-matter specialists within the agency, and existing clients and prospective clients.Reporting to the COO, they will be a hands-on team member actively engaged in day-to-day work activities as well as responsible for the leadership and direction of client deliverables, and providing oversight on the work performed by other research team members. They are responsible for promoting and advancing the value of research and insights or analytics services internally and externally for Method. They will support, train, and mentor the team to deliver concierge service .As a member of Method’s Leadership Team, you will collaborate with People, Finance and Operations on internal agency initiatives including resource planning, training, organizational development and measurement against research/insights/analytics business goals.ResponsibilitiesAgency LeadershipLead a team of researchers, guiding strategy on projects and new servicesLead team development efforts by identifying and implementing process improvements, training and mentoring team members, and helping team members grow and expand their industry knowledge. Provide strategic guidance for clients and team leads on how Method’s research capabilities can support communication goals and broader business objectives. This includes consulting on topics or themes, targeting strategies, research methodology and other factors for consideration when building a go-to-market plan. Work collaboratively with marketing, thought leadership, analyst relations and PR specialist teams to develop insights, strategy, and promote research findings across multiple channels. Participate in agency leadership, providing input on decision-making issues affecting the agency – new business, best practices, client service and using data for strategic purposes Share knowledge with the agency and to our clients on research trends and approaches, and data and insights best practices and innovations to train the organization as we further expand our research, planning and insights service areas. Motivate and lead a high-performance research team; attract, recruit and retain team members; deliver constructive and clear feedback to ensure level requirements are metPromote Method’s research capabilities, successes and case studies within Method, acting as a champion for growth. Make recommendations on tools Method should invest in and expanded services offerings Method should consider. Support Method’s marketing efforts through strategic inclusion of insights in various external materials including award nominations, blogs, social media posts and bylinesDemonstrate and support Method’s Inclusion policy and practices, contributing to and building a culture built on respect, dignity, empathy, and inclusivity. This includes completing the required annual Inclusion training provided by Method. Account LeadershipOversee the design, management and execution of primary, secondary and digital analytics research projects. Advise clients and internal teams on optimal methodological approaches and techniques used by Method, timelines and data use best practicesResponsible for all research SOWs, contracts, research proposals and strategic briefs Responsible for pricing and scoping projects for profitability and managing project budgets and timelines and account staffing needs. Provide recommendations for research amplification and promotion, including paid, earned, social and owned media, along with internal communications, email marketing/lead gen, and thought leadership opportunities Business DevelopmentIdentify new opportunities for data and research projects across Method accounts and VCCP brands for revenue growth and expansion, with an emphasis on integrated marketing campaigns Develop new integrated research and analytics offerings, with a particular focus on qualitative research and advanced analytics offerings Manage new business pitches and project scopes, ensuring proposals are well researched, properly scoped and polished. Collaborates with practice area leads to set research-related revenue goals and track revenue throughout the year, keeping marketing leaders and finance apprised of new business projections and secured revenue. Expand personal/professional network in order to enhance the Method brand, grow our client and research project portfolio, and be able to offer better solutions to clients. Provide support across departments/sectors and identifies new opportunities for data and analytics among current and potential clientsDevelop and maintain research “sales collateral” which focuses on outlining Method’s market research offering. These tools will support the agency to better understand our service offerings and provide the support needed to grow client accounts. Collaborate with agency partners in new business development and RFPs (e.g., drafting analytics & research approaches). Participate in new business pitches and project scoping, ensuring proposals are well researched, properly scoped and polished. What We’re Looking ForMinimum 10 years of relevant experience in market research, ideally with a large market research supplier and/or brand consultancy firm Entrepreneurial self-starter with experience building and/or leading a team of researchers Bachelor’s degree with relevant experienceA strategic thinker, collaborator, creative problem-solver. An articulate communicator who can synthesize complex data into actionable strategiesDeep network of data partnersProven track record in leading and overseeing a team of strategy, research, planning and analysis staffA data expert who can take research results and translate them into insights that provide the foundation for marketing strategiesExpertise in B2B marketing and branding strategy (company, content, portfolio, product positioning & messaging)Well-versed in brand studies, trackers, global market research, niche B2B sample audiences (especially business decision makers and technology professionals, mixed-modes, behavioral interviews and other non-survey data sources , and qualitative interviewing Ability to design primary research materials (questionnaires, discussion guides, report templates), manage data collection and analysis and prepare final, client-ready reportsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with other analytics tools such as R, SPSS, SAS, XLSTAT, etc. Proficiency in communications, campaign & content planningAbility to work independently, self-directed, strong work ethic and adherence to deadlinesDemonstrated effective client management (internal or external) skills, including executive presence and presentation skills and ability to lead clients towards a balance of quality, budget and timing Adaptability and flexibility to pivot quickly in a fast-paced environment demonstrated by creative problem solving through unexpected client and market challenges Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, including direct experience managing client expectations surrounding data that is unexpected or undesirable Collaborative, team-oriented individual with a big-picture mindset What’s it like to work here?Relationships are paramount to life at Method, and we invest heavily in building and maintaining relationships with clients, journalists and each other.
