Job Description SUMMARY OF POSITION:The CAD Drafter is responsible for utilizing preliminary concept drawings to generate detailed shop drawings into computer software for fabrication and installation of signage products.Essential FunctionsStudy request, estimation, and design results to determine action plan.Determine materials, costs and extra dimensions needed to complete request.Collaborate with others to establish timelines and budgets, as well as solve problems.Adapt designs and concepts utilizing materials estimated, manufacturing processes on hand or the availability of both.Create shop drawing from concept art and engineering specifications.Create CNC router files used to cut parts for fabrication of product.Develop lighting layouts for sign illumination using current LED specifications.Create detailed design instructions and documentation.Communicate with Project Managers, Estimators, Engineers and Fabricators to ensure product is properly designed.Maintain and revise drawings as necessary to document sign conditions for future service work or repeat orders.Willingness to interact with the Manufacturing shop floor daily as well as physically moving to and from these departments.Job RequirementsEducation: Required High School Diploma / GED and associate’s degree in mechanical design and 1+ year in a production environmentWork ExperienceMinimum 1 (one) year of experience in CAD Design. Sign industry experience required.High level knowledge in AutoCad, level of programming skills required (2D & 3D)Energetic, detail oriented with excellent time management skillsProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with welding and fabricationBlueprint development for manufacturingPhysical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be required to do limited work outdoors. While performing job duties, employees may often change from one task to another of a different nature, subject to high level of stress/pressure.
