Cath Lab RN - Huntingdon, PA

The RN (Cath Lab or Cardiac Cath Lab) specializes in working with patients undergoing cardiac procedures in a catheterization lab. During cardiac catheterizations, these specially trained nurses assist the medical team by monitoring the patient’s vitals, assisting with procedural sedatives, assisting doctors, technicians, nurses and the patients.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesAdministers patient medicationsAssists in diagnostic procedures and interventional proceduresCirculates and scrub during cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology proceduresResponsible for discharge teaching with patients and families including procedural, medications, activities, care of the surgical site and lifestyle/dietary changesEnsures consent paperwork is accurately completedPerforms examination of the patient pre and post-catheterizationManages administrative aspects of cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology patientsMonitors and documents patient vital signsMonitors for signs and symptoms of infections or side effects of the procedureMonitors patient sedation levels during and after the procedurePrepares patients for proceduresMinimum RequirementsRegistered Nurse with a current state license where they will be workingACLS may be required by state/client contractMinimum of 2 years critical care or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards of practice Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required Computer proficiency required BenefitsAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.About AmergisAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
