Our goals and objectives for the Mathematics Program includes growing the mindset and interest level of K-12 students regarding math knowledge, skill development and application of skills. The successful candidate will ultimately encourage students to discover and learn math skills through ourK-12 mathematics curriculum - Illustrative Mathematics. Our ultimate goal is to produce student problem solvers and prepare students for their future career and life beyond high school. The candidate will also devote his or her energies and efforts toward learning experiences designed to fulfill students' intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SETHolds or is able to secure Arkansas teaching license, specifically in 4-8 mathematicsTeach middle school mathematics grades 6-8, utilizing course guidelines that are aligned with Arkansas teaching/learning standards and other designated district curriculum standardsDevelop and study curriculum lesson plans that support conceptual understanding. Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, other available technology in the understanding of mathematical algorithmsHas a passion for teaching and learning mathematics conceptsProvide opportunities when needed for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each studentEstablish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environmentEvaluate each student's progress in mathematical knowledge and skillsUtilize graphing calculators and other technological tools to deepen student learning/understanding of mathematicsCommunicates with parents and other personnel regarding student mastery and progress.Supervise students in and out-of-classroom during the assigned work dayMaintain professional competence; participate in curriculum development and Professional Learning CommunitiesShare in the sponsorship of student activities such as mathematics teams and other faculty committeesParticipate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in their evaluation and professional growth planCreates a classroom environment and lessons that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students (including differentiation and engagement)Displays effective classroom management and incorporates engaging student activitiesStrive to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectivesPerform other duties as assigned.
