Medical Receptionist

Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming environment while managing check-in and check-out procedures. Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, optimizing provider calendars for efficiency. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process insurance claims with precision to facilitate smooth billing workflows. Collect and review patient documentation, including medical histories, consent forms, and referral information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages when necessary. Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents correctly and updating patient information in various EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix. Assist with medical billing processes, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare claims submission to support revenue cycle management. Support clinic operations by managing medical scheduling, appointment confirmations, and follow-up reminders for patients. Uphold confidentiality standards by adhering to HIPAA guidelines during all documentation review and data handling activities. Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role with clinic experience preferred. Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable. Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and medical billing procedures is essential. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software like Meditech or Dentrix. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems and maintain professionalism under pressure. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Prior office management or clerical experience in a healthcare setting is preferred; dental clinic experience is advantageous. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices is required to ensure compliance. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and accurate record keeping.
