Education Placement Coordinator

Summary of Position: The Placement Coordinator serves as the liaison between the School of Teacher Education (STE) and the administrators and teachers of partnering schools used for field placements. The Placement Coordinator takes responsibility for seeking, assigning, confirming, and tracking all field placements and in organizing all related materials used to support teacher candidates, university supervisors, and supervising teachers. The Placement Coordinator also plans and leads special events related to practicum and student teaching. The individual in this position must be skilled in oral and written communication, highly organized, and able to see complex processes through to their outcome with little direct supervision.NOTE: This position is a 4 day/week and 10 months/year position.Duties And ResponsibilitiesInitiates contact with school administrators to obtain field placements for all teacher candidates, analyzing each placement for fit, quality, and suitabilityIdentifies and resolves any issues in processes and procedures related to field placementsCreates and finalizes contractual arrangements with partnering school corporations, maintaining and cataloging all recordsEnsures that all placement and training materials are accurate, current, and accessible to school partners, supervisors, and teacher candidatesMaintains and tracks all field placement records and related assessment dataBuilds and maintains relationships with partnering schoolsMakes arrangements for and hosts special events for student teachers, school partners, and supervisorsQualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.EducationAssociate or Bachelor's degree preferredExperienceOffice managementKnowledge of and familiarity with area schoolsRequired SkillsExcellent communicator, both in oral and written formGenerate, proofread, and edit written materials for varied audiences;Conduct ongoing correspondence with professionals inside and outside of the universityInterpersonalApply problem-solving skills in day-to-day interactions with faculty, staff, and studentsDependableComplete short- and long-term projects with minimal oversightTechnology-proficientNavigate variety of methods to complete tasks efficiently and effectivelyIWU Kingdom Diversity StatementIWU, in covenant with God's reconciling work and in accordance with the Biblical principles of our historic Wesleyan tradition, commits to build a community that reflects Kingdom diversity.
