Mechanical Design Engineer
Our client is seeking a Mechanical Designer / Product Development Engineer to support the design and development of custom mechanical systems and material handling equipment. This role will focus on 3D modeling, sheet metal design, product development, and engineering documentation while supporting projects from concept through installation.The ideal candidate will have experience using Autodesk Inventor for mechanical design, familiarity with Vault for design/document management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment supporting custom equipment and integration projects.Contract to PermKey ResponsibilitiesCreate 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using Autodesk InventorDevelop and manage engineering documentation, bills of materials, and release packages utilizing Vault****REQUIRED***Design sheet metal components and mechanical assemblies for industrial and material handling applicationsSupport the transition of conceptual designs into detailed engineering and manufacturing phasesCoordinate with vendors and internal teams regarding materials, fabrication, and product specificationsAssist with installation documentation, engineering change orders (ECOs), and design release proceduresSupport client discussions related to equipment design, functionality, and engineering concernsCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure project successTravel to customer sites as needed to support installations, quality control, and implementation activitiesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplineMinimum 2+ years of experience using Autodesk Inventor in a professional engineering environmentWorking knowledge of Vault for document and design managementExperience with sheet metal design and mechanical assembliesUnderstanding of manufacturing processes and product development workflowsAbility to work on fast-paced projects with aggressive timelinesStrong communication and teamwork skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with conveyors, material handling systems, automation equipment, or industrial machineryExposure to installation/integration processes and field support activitiesExperience creating BOMs, fabrication drawings, and release documentationKnowledge of ECO/engineering release proceduresAs part of our promise to talent, Kelly supports those who work with us through a variety of benefits, perks, and work-related resources.
