Overview: Applied Physical Sciences (APS) is seeking a highly motivated Electronics Engineer to join our Sensing and Communications Department. Successful candidates will have a M.S. degree or B.S. degree in electrical engineering with a focus in analog and digital circuit design and experience building, integrating, and debugging electronics assemblies. Successful applicants will support the design and development, troubleshooting, production, and sustainment of a wide variety of underwater maritime electrical and electromechanical systems.Candidates must have a solid foundation in understanding and working with analog circuits, digital logic, ADCs, microcontrollers, DC/DC converters, digital communications protocols (RS232/RS422, I2C, I2S, SPI, McBSP), preamplifiers, power amplifiers, and interfacing to embedded microprocessors.APS works on exciting, technically challenging, cutting-edge technologies that will expose candidates to a wide variety of multidisciplinary fields and allow for unique growth opportunities and learning experiences. You will have the chance to work directly with colleagues and customers that value innovation and creativity.Job Functions And ResponsibilitiesDesign, integration, troubleshooting, production, and sustainment of complex electrical and electro-mechanical systems.Design, procurement, and testing of custom analog/digital PCBsTravel to support exercisesRequired Skills And AttributesBS in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in microelectronicsNo professional experience is required but past internships in engineering are highly desirableProficiency with electronic laboratory test equipment including , digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, function generator, digital voltage and current measurement probes.Experience troubleshooting printed circuit boards and electronics assemblies including cables, sensors, grounding, and noise.Ability to grasp, organize, and communicate complex concepts, both electrical and organizational, and interface with multi-disciplinary team.Basic proficiency interfacing with Linux based systemsBasic competence with Matlab data analysisProven experience designing custom PCBs from conception to implementationUnderstanding or experience with electronic layout, bill-of-materials, and assembly processExperience designing with analog sensors, ADCs, and embedded processorsAffinity for working on a teamPreferred Skills And AttributesMS in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in microelectronics1 to 3 years’ experience designing electronicsExperience with Altium for schematic captureExperience with LTSPICE for circuit simulationsExperience with C/C++ coding for microcontrollers (or similar e.g. Python)Experience using National Instruments (or similar) data acquisition systems and LabViewExperience or familiarity with electronics assembly, wiring, crimping, soldering a plus.An immediate position is open in our Groton, CT and Gulfport, MS offices.APS, a wholly owned subsidiary of the General Dynamics Corporation, offers competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and comfortable working conditions.
