This role is critical in ensuring adherence to federal regulations while supporting program execution and business objectives. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in U.S. government contracting, strong business acumen, and the ability to partner cross-functionally in a fast-paced defense environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the full lifecycle of government contracts, including proposal support, negotiation, award, administration, and closeoutInterpret and ensure compliance with federal regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and other agency-specific requirementsServe as a trusted advisor to program managers, finance, legal, and executive leadership on contractual mattersAnalyze solicitations (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs) and develop compliant and competitive responsesDraft, review, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, NDAs, teaming agreements, and modificationsIdentify and mitigate contractual risks; develop strategies to protect company interestsManage contract changes, claims, and disputes in coordination with legal counselEnsure proper documentation, reporting, and audit readiness (e.g., DCMA/DCAA audits)Mentor junior contracts staff and contribute to process improvements and best practicesSupport business development efforts, including capture strategy and proposal reviewsQualificationsExperience and SkillsBachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field (Master’s or JD preferred)10+ years of progressive experience in government contracting, preferably within the defense industryDeep knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and federal acquisition processesOTA experience Proven experience negotiating complex contracts and subcontractsStrong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlinesExperience supporting DoD or other federal agencies preferredActive Secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain onePreferred SkillsExperience with cost-reimbursable, fixed-price, and T&M contract typesFamiliarity with export compliance (ITAR/EAR)Knowledgeable in trade complianceStrong negotiation and influencing skillsHigh attention to detail and strong organizational capabilitiesJob BenefitsMedical, Dental & Vision Insurance CoverageLife/ADD & Short/Long Term Disability Insurance401(k) Savings PlanEmployee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)Paid Time-Off (PTO)HolidaysEducation Reimbursement Kratos Defense is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer.
