Summary
The Assistant Controller is responsible for the day-to-day management of Accounts Payable, Payroll, Benefits Administration, and related Human Resources transactional functions at Ozark Laser. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant processing of financial and HR operations, reporting to the Controller and working closely with both the Controller and the CFO to support the company's overall financial integrity and employee experience. The Assistant Controller works primarily within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (accounting/ERP), iSolved (payroll and HR), and the Microsoft Office environment.
Essential Functions
Serving as a key member of Ozark Laser's corporate administrative team, the Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller and CFO to coordinate and oversee essential administrative and financial operations.
Accounts Payable (Business Central): Manage the full AP cycle — invoice receipt, coding, approval workflows, and payment processing. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Maintain vendor records, W-9s, and 1099 reporting. Monitor cash disbursements and support cash flow forecasting. Ensure proper documentation and internal controls over payables, including approval workflows and audit trails.
Payroll (iSolved): Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time. Maintain payroll records, timekeeping data, and deductions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. Serve as primary administrator for iSolved, including troubleshooting, updates, and system configuration. Prepare payroll journal entries and post/reconcile payroll liability and expense accounts in Business Central.
Benefits Administration (iSolved Benefits): Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, etc.). Manage open enrollment, new hire enrollments, and qualifying life event changes. Serve as primary point of contact for employee benefits questions. Reconcile benefits invoices against iSolved deduction reports and ensure accurate payroll deductions. Support the annual benefits renewal process alongside the CFO/broker.
HR Transactions & Compliance (iSolved): Process employee status changes (new hires, terminations, pay changes, transfers). Maintain accurate personnel and payroll files in compliance with recordkeeping requirements. Support compliance with employment laws (FLSA, ACA, COBRA, etc.), leveraging iSolved's compliance reporting tools. Assist with unemployment claims, workers' compensation reporting, and audits. Help maintain HR policies and procedures documentation.
General Ledger & Accounting Support (Business Central): Assist with month-end close related to AP, payroll, and benefits accruals. Reconcile payroll- and benefits-related GL accounts. Support the Controller and CFO with special projects, audits, and process improvement initiatives. Help maintain internal controls over financial and HR transactional processes across both systems.
Assist with external and internal audit requests and provide information as requested.
Assist with other duties assigned and directed by the Controller or CFO within the framework of Ozark Laser's objectives.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, iSolved, and Avalara, or comparable ERP, HCM/payroll, and sales tax compliance platforms.
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations and benefits compliance (ACA, COBRA, ERISA basics).

Education/Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required (or equivalent experience).
3–5+ years of experience in accounting, payroll, or HR administration; combined AP/payroll/benefits experience strongly preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar mid-market ERP system strongly preferred.
Experience with iSolved or a comparable HCM/payroll platform (ADP, Paychex, UKG, Paycor) preferred.
