This is a unique opportunity to be part of a brand-new state of the art Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) and Slab Caster facility.The ideal candidate will provide operational support in the Tundish & Caster area by preparing, installing, and maintaining tundish refractory that support high‐quality steel production within the highly automated continuous casting process.The Basics:High School Diploma or GED requiredAt least 1 year of Overhead Crane Operations experienceAt least 1 year of experience working in a heavy industrial setting (steel mill, paper mill, manufacturing, mining, or similar)Advanced knowledge of industrial tools and equipment, including cranes, forklifts, heavy machinery, and hand/power toolsStrong math, reading, and comprehension skillsStrong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to lift and/or move up to 50 poundsFamiliarity with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word)The Extras:Thorough knowledge of manufacturing operation practicesAbility to recognize and implement process improvementsCertifications in Crane operation desiredAbility to communicate effectively with ground personnel and supervisorsMechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issuesProven attention to detail and focus in fast-paced operationsTRAITS TO BE SUCCESSFUL:Strong commitment to safety standards and safe work practicesHolds self and others accountable to commitmentsBuilds partnerships and works collaboratively to meet shared objectivesUnderstand the most effective and efficient processes to accomplish task with a focus on continuous improvementMakes sound, timely decisions that keep the organization moving forwardWHAT YOU'LL BE DOINGActivities include, but are not limited to:Unload slabs from the slab casterLoad slabs onto outbound trailersPeriodically loading slabs on to the caster runout table on an 'as needed' basisManually applying slab identification tags on to slabs on an 'as needed' basisAssisting other operational areas with-in the casting department on an 'as needed' basisAssisting with training personnel with crane operationsFollow all safety rules, including lockout procedures, hot‐work protocols, and confined‐space guidelinesCoordinate with and support maintenance personnelPerform routine maintenance and housekeepingMonitor and notify supervision of any abnormal equipment or process conditionsOperate mobile equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranesOpportunity to learn and train hands on in a Steelmaking Facility.Training will be providedDemonstrates the company values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and SustainabilityFulfills the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environmentFulfills the responsibilities required to achieve the Quality CommitmentDemonstrates commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respectEnsure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001 (current version), IATF 16949 (current version), and ISO 17025 (current version)YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENTIndoor and outdoor environmental conditions with exposure to elevated noise levels and extreme heat; will work in proximity to molten metalRequired to work at heights up to 100 ftPersonal protective equipment requiredLocated in the Gulf Coast region in Calvert, ALShift:Shifts include, but are not limited to:* Initially: Day shift, Monday-Friday during training* During operations: Rotating 12‐hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidaysImportant Note:People with pacemakers or other implanted electronic medical devices may be restricted from entering certain areas due to electromagnetic fields.
