Apply today!Groundworks is seeking a talented Senior Manager, Fleet Operations to join our tribe in Virginia Beach, VA or Dallas, TX!The Senior Manager, Fleet Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operational performance of Groundworks’ fleet across North America, supporting >5,000 assets across >90 locations in North America. This role provides direct leadership over fleet operations, ensuring consistent execution, regulatory compliance, vendor performance, and asset readiness at scale. This position serves as the operational owner of the fleet function, driving disciplined execution across maintenance, licensing, and compliance while ensuring accountability across internal teams and external partners. The role is critical to stabilizing operations, reducing risk, and building the operational foundation required to support continued business growth.Duties And ResponsibilitiesOperational LeadershipOwn day-to-day fleet operations across all locations, including maintenance, licensing, registration, and asset readinessEnsure consistent execution of fleet processes and standards across a distributed branch networkDrive operational performance aligned to defined KPIs, including vehicle uptime and registration complianceEstablish process discipline and standard workflows to improve consistency and reduce variability across locationsCompliance & Risk ManagementOversee DOT compliance, driver qualification requirements, and regulatory adherence across all jurisdictionsEnsure accuracy, completeness, and audit-readiness of fleet documentation and recordsIdentify and mitigate operational and compliance risks through proactive monitoring and process improvementVendor & Partner ManagementManage day-to-day execution and accountability of fleet vendors, service providers, and fleet management agenciesDrive resolution of escalations, ensuring timely follow-through and consistent service deliveryMonitor vendor performance and enforce service expectations across maintenance, licensing, and related servicesTeam LeadershipDirectly manage Fleet Coordinators, including workload prioritization, performance management, and developmentBuild team capability to support increasing operational complexity, including expansion into DOT compliance and driver qualification supportFoster a process-driven, accountable, and service-oriented team environmentProcess & Performance ManagementStandardize and improve fleet workflows to reduce manual processes and increase efficiencyLeverage fleet systems, telematics, and data to improve operational visibility and decision-makingEstablish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators to drive continuous improvementField & Stakeholder SupportServe as primary escalation point for branch-level fleet issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutionPartner closely with branch leadership and Safety to support operational needs and ensure compliance alignmentAct as a key liaison between field operations, corporate teams, and external partners. Perform other duties as necessary or assigned. Qualifications5–8 years of fleet management experience in a multi-location environmentExperience managing fleets of 2,000+ assets across multiple geographiesDemonstrated expertise in DOT compliance, driver qualifications, and regulatory requirementsExperience working with large fleet management providers (e.g., Element, Enterprise, Holman)Strong vendor management experience with the ability to drive accountability and performanceProven people leadership experience, including managing and developing direct reportsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-makingAbility to operate effectively in a field-facing, service-oriented role supporting distributed teamsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceWorking ConditionsOffice-based role with standard business hours. Occasional travel required to company locations, job sites, maintenance facilities, or industry events. Fast-paced and dynamic environment demanding flexibility, multitasking, and hands-on leadership. Regular interaction with branch team members and leadership.
