Senior Substation Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead the design and delivery of high-voltage substation projects from concept through construction. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary project teams to develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions for new builds and modifications to existing electrical substations.You will act as a technical lead on projects, ensuring design quality, compliance with industry standards, and successful delivery to client requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesLead substation engineering projects from conceptual design through to completion, ensuring technical quality, budget, and schedule alignmentDevelop full substation design packages including physical layout, protection and control, grounding, lightning, lighting, and auxiliary systemsProduce and review key engineering calculations (e.g. insulation coordination, AC/DC systems, battery sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill)Prepare technical deliverables including design drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and cost estimates in line with IEEE, NESC, and utility standardsLead design reviews, QA/QC processes, and field inspections, resolving technical issues during design and construction phasesSupport client engagement, project planning (scope, schedule, budget), and proposal development activitiesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program (required)7+ years of relevant experienceStrong knowledge of substation engineering principles and utility practicesAbility to work effectively in a collaborative team environmentAbility to develop innovative solutions to engineering challengesPE Licensed is a requirement.
