Test Automation Engineer

Title: Test Automation EngineerIndustry: Autonomous Vehicle / TechnologyLocation: Foster City, CADuration: Approximately 6 monthsResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain Python- and Bash-based automated testing frameworks for Ethernet compliance, integration, functionality, and performance validation.Create PCAP-, tcpdump-, and fault-injection-based diagnostic tools and automated scenarios covering ARP, ICMP, FCS, link loss, communication interruptions, fault handling, and system recovery.Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot 802.1Q VLAN-segmented bench and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) network environments, including integration with laboratory equipment such as DAQ systems, power supplies, and relay controls.Investigate network failures across the OSI stack using packet captures, logs, diagnostics, and automated test results; validate interoperability among switches, sensors, ECUs, and other connected vehicle components.Collaborate with Systems, Integration, Software, Sensor, and Hardware Engineering teams; integrate network validation into CI/CD pipelines and maintain technical documentation.RequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, plus 6+ years of relevant experience in network engineering, test automation, embedded systems, or hardware validation.Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals and the OSI model, including TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, SNMP, VLANs, and 802.1Q; capable of troubleshooting hardware, software, configuration, and communication failures.Advanced Python and Bash scripting experience with proven ability to build and maintain automated test frameworks using pytest or comparable tools.Proficiency with Wireshark, iPerf, tcpdump, traceroute, ethtool, PCAP analysis, Linux networking, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps-based automated testing environments.Preferred experience with automotive Ethernet, DoIP, UDS over IP, 100BASE-T1, BroadR-Reach, IEEE 1588v2 PTP, IEEE 802.1AS, HIL infrastructure, and laboratory test equipment.SkillsPythonBashTest AutomationEthernetPCAP AnalysisWiresharkLinux NetworkingCI/CDHardware-in-the-Loop (HIL)Automotive EthernetHourly rate is commensurate with experience and is an estimated range provided by WorkGenius.ref_id: 1bbf5df8-e4d7-4aaf-83e8-f6b11ed85b14
