This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing highly scalable data flows that power mission-critical software platforms.You will be responsible for writing highly efficient application-level database code that ensures data integrity, low latency, and high reliability across distributed systems. This role will play a key part in modernizing legacy scheduling systems while supporting production environments during critical deployment phases.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and optimize software and database systems with a focus on performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.Develop high-performance solutions for processing large volumes of distributed data while minimizing latency and maximizing throughput.Write efficient application-level database code, including query optimization, indexing strategies, partitioning, and connection management.Design, implement, and optimize solutions using Cassandra, AlloyDB, and PostgreSQL.Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks across database interactions and complex data processing workflows.Support production deployments and ensure the stability and reliability of database infrastructure under heavy workloads.Collaborate closely with engineering teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable backend solutions.Required QualificationsU.S. Citizen (required).5+ years of professional software development experience with a strong emphasis on backend systems and database engineering.Expert-level Python experience building high-performance backend services, asynchronous applications, and distributed systems.Deep understanding of database systems, including architecture, internals, tradeoffs, and performance optimization.Strong experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, including advanced tuning, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.Production experience managing and optimizing large-scale NoSQL database clusters.Practical experience with AlloyDB.Strong understanding of:Concurrency controlTransaction managementIndexing strategiesData modelingExperience building systems that process high-volume distributed data with strict latency requirements.Experience working with Docker or other containerized environments.Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture.Experience with C++, Go, or Rust is a strong plus.Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.BenefitsComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverageRetirement planPaid time offProfessional development opportunitiesFully remote work environmentOccasional company-paid travel for team collaboration (a few times per year)PriceSenz is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
