Stepdown Unit Nurse (RN) in Warren, OH

This nursing opportunity is for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-acuity care on a Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit requiring ventilator management and advanced critical care skills. This contract role offers 12-hour night shifts and demands strong competency in managing complex patient cases involving multisystem organ failure, trauma, respiratory, renal, and surgical conditions.Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, administration of medications such as Cardizem and Amiodarone drips (no pressors), ventilator and airway management including tracheostomies, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapies. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, educates patients and families, advocates for patient safety and quality of care, and maintains compliance with professional nursing standards and regulations.Key qualifications:Current RN license in the state of practice or covered under compact licensingMinimum 1 year of RN experience; ventilator and higher acuity stepdown or ICU experience requiredBLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required; CCRN or PCCN preferredProficiency with critical care nursing processes, including hemodynamic monitoring and advanced airway managementStrong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced environmentLocation Details: Situated in an urban Midwest city, this location offers a community-oriented environment with access to cultural amenities, parks, and local dining.
