General Operator
JOB SUMMARY As a General Operator, you will join the production team, utilizing standard operating procedures (Work Instructions) to maintain safety and quality while performing daily functions. This role involves a variety of responsibilities throughout the year due to the seasonality of the business, including supporting seed crop maintenance, seed inventory management, harvesting, seed packaging, cleaning, maintenance work, warehousing, and shipping. This position requires the ability to work long hours and rotational shifts, including overtime as needed. Key Responsibilities • Receive and process trucks hauling crop, ensuring safe unloading and sample collection. • Complete a variety of harvest activities. • Operate dryer to dry crop within prescribed requirements. • Shell and store crop from bins. • Supply the Conditioning department with seed. • Label, tag, bag, and palletize seed. • Enter inventory information into the computer. • Stage seed for shipment in the warehouse. • Operate a forklift for picking, pooling, staging, receiving, loading, and unloading. • Assist dock personnel with handling materials. • Assist the Packaging Operator/Team Lead with packaging equipment operations. • Assist the Box Wash Operator/Team Lead with box wash equipment operations. • Perform 5S (cleaning) activities, painting, and overall plant upkeep. • Retag and re-bag seed. • Inspect and wash pro boxes. Required Qualifications • Must be able to read and write in English. • Must be able to use stairs. • Must be able to lift 50 pounds. • Must be able to operate a computer. • Must be able to stand on concrete all day. • Must be able to work either days or nights. • Must have reliable transportation to the site and be able to arrive at the work site as instructed. • Must pass drug and background screens. • Ability to adjust to changing conditions and anticipate needs. • Ability to make independent decisions. • Reliable and dependable with exceptional attendance. • Maintain enthusiasm, good attitude, honesty, and a willingness to treat all with respect. • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 pounds, work in and outdoors, walk on uneven surfaces. Preferred Qualifications • Forklift Experience Education: High School or equivalent
