Automation Engineer
Type of position: Regular Your future role on our team As an Automation Engineer, you’ll take part in engineering proposals and projects in the mining and metals industry across the United States and Canada. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring the quality of professional services delivered while maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal teams.You’ll play a key role throughout all phases of engineering projects, helping deliver high-quality technical solutions. Participate in engineering studies, design and project delivery Prepare technical documents such as reports, specifications and deliverables Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated solutions Help prepare proposals and engineering service estimates Support client relationships by understanding needs and proposing solutions Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers Participate in site visits, inspections and commissioning activities, as required Design and program control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA) Support commissioning and optimization of control strategies and instrumentation Do your qualities and values match our corporate culture? Results-driven Strong commitment to health and safety Inspirational leadership Rigorous and ethical Ability to share and pass on knowledge Interest in solving the most complex challenges Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States, or eligible From 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in mining, energy or heavy industry Experience in a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment Ability to interpret process and engineering documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, drawings) Field experience (construction, commissioning, site support) Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with clients and teams Valid driver’s license and available for occasional travel Experience with PLC/DCS/SCADA programming and control system integration Experience with PLC logic, control strategies and operator interfaces (HMI) Experience with sensors, loops, control valves and process modelling basics Experience with start-up, troubleshooting and performance tuning Ability to interpret PFDs/P&IDs and integrate automation systems Experience with cross-disciplinary exposure, mechanical and electrical systems, substations, industrial IT and telecom Knowledge of the following software and tools: PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider) SCADA systems (Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC, etc.) DCS platforms (ABB, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, etc.) PI System (data historian) Asset: advanced engineering degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) Asset: experience in engineering estimates and proposal preparation Asset: project management and project control skills Asset: experience with relevant software and design tools (discipline-specific) An Overview Of BBA’s Total Rewards Annual premium program for regular employees Group insurance plan from the first day of employment 401(k) retirement plan Annual paid time off (PTO) Statutory holidays Premium for employee referrals BBA considers many factors when determining the annual base salary, including location, market, education, relevant and demonstrated work experience, technical assessment, qualifications, certifications and other relevant skills.At BBA, You Get Many Benefits Opportunity for site work: an amazing career accelerator!
