Behavioral Assistant

Job OverviewThe Behavioral Assistant provides assistance to students with behavioral challenges on the autism spectrum, emotional/behavioral disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and related developmental disabilities, under the direction of a licensed teacher.Roles And ResponsibilitiesThe following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.Supports the implementation of the behavior plans for studentsParticipates in on-going training in highly specialized strategies and interventions for implementing individualized behavior plans under the direction of staffUses training to take appropriate actions to deal with recurring behavioral situations with the supervision of the teacherQualificationsBelow are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.EducationHigh School Diploma or GED supplemented by course work in child development or a related fieldExperienceExperience working with students with behavioral challenges on the autism spectrum, emotional/behavioral disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and/or other developmental disabilitiesLicenses and CertificationsKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge, abilities, and skills to effectively manage the behaviors of children with behavioral and learning challengesAbility to collect, record, and use behavioral and instructional dataPhysical RequirementsThe following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this job:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
