Job Title: InterventionistSalary Schedule: State Salary Schedule; CHCCS Salary PageReports To: School Principal Salary Grade: Instructional SupportWork Location: Carrboro Elementary SchoolFLSA Status: ExemptWork Schedule: 10 Month Position SummaryThe goal of the Intervention Specialist is to provide direct support and intervention to students in grades K-12 who need additional support in reading, writing, and/or mathematics and to provide leadership, collaboration, and support to teachers towards designing and implementing intervention strategies.Essential DutiesProvides small group instruction or interventions, collaboratively in the classroom or in a separate setting, to non proficient or fragile students in reading, writing, and/or mathematics using research-based modelsProvides expert knowledge about best intervention practices, instructional strategies and practices to classroom teachers for implementation as applicableServes on the Student Support Team to assist in the development of intervention strategies and plansPromotes and models peer collaborationCollaborates with classroom teachers in grades K-5 to assist in the development, administration, and analysis of assessmentsMonitors formative and summative student assessments to plan instructional programming to meet the needs of students servedCollaborates with school administration to determine student service plans/schedules.Implements test-prep strategies with identified students, as neededAssists classroom teachers in the development of proficiency portfolios for reading, writing and mathematicsPerform related duties as assigned by the School PrincipalMaintain compliance with all company policies and procedures Education/Experience RequirementsValid N.C. teaching license requiredReading licensure preferredMaster's Degree or advanced studies in curriculum and instruction, reading, mathematics, science or related field preferredBachelor's Degree requiredPrior successful experience as an elementary classroom teacher.Demonstrated effective interpersonal skillsOther qualifications that are acceptable to the Board of EducationPhysical RequirementsAbility to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standardsDisclosureThis document provides descriptive information about the above Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School position.
