Commercial ControllerThe Commercial Controller is responsible for planning, coordinating, and reporting of the financial activities within the commercial portfolio (Office/Industrial/Retail), and ensuring the success and growth of associates through strong leadership and positive mentorship.Job Responsibilities:Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for the business sectorProvide management to portfolio accounting teamDevelopment, analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the business sectorManage month end closing and monthly preparation of financial statementsReview of monthly financial statementsReview of monthly bank reconciliationsManage business sector CAM reconciliation process and finalize reconciliations through the accounting systemManage business sector budgeting process and finalize budgets through the accounting systemManage business sector internal auditsProvide the required reports of operations (including lender reporting) for the various entities of the business sectorTrain staff and recommend training requirements to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectivesUpdate the company's accounting processes and procedures identifying areas for improved efficienciesMonitoring and evaluating internal controlsChampion the adoption of technology, automation, and AI-driven tools to improve reporting accuracy, workflow efficiency, and portfolio analyticsLead process improvement initiatives and drive thoughtful change management within the accounting team and across business partnersEvaluate emerging systems, reporting tools, and data capabilities to enhance financial visibility and decision-makingPromote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellenceJob Qualifications :Bachelor's Degree; accounting major preferredCPA preferredMinimum 5-7 years of experience in the real estate industry with a focus on commercial product typesMinimum 3 years supervisory experienceYardi Voyager experience preferredKnowledge of general ledger accounting with a strong emphasis on analysis and reconciliationStrong organizational skills, communication skills, and problem-solving abilityStrong work ethicDetail-OrientedPositive AttitudeExceptional software skillsSolid leadership skills and ability to direct othersWorks effectively in a team environment through collaboration and partnershipTroubleshooting problems and providing optimal solutionsAbility to meet and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated comfort leveraging AI, automation, and financial technologies to streamline processes and improve insightsChange-oriented mindset with the ability to lead teams through evolving systems, processes, and business strategiesIntellectual curiosity and willingness to challenge legacy processes in favor of more efficient, scalable solutionsStrong analytical orientation with the ability to translate data into actionable business recommendationsBenefits and Perks:Competitive salaryRobust benefit package, including Medical, Dental, and VisionCompany-paid Life and Disability coverage401(k) with generous company matchEmployee lease discounts availableMonthly employee recognition awardsCareer path and growth opportunities availableFun and team-oriented culture
