Assistant Project Manager
Position: Project Coordinator – Gas & Electric Distribution Services Duration: 12+ months contractLocation: Traverse City, Cadillac, or Boyne City, MI – hybrid Job DescriptionPosition OverviewThe Project Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end coordination and execution of gas and electric service delivery to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This role requires a strong working knowledge of gas and/or electric distribution systems and the ability to effectively manage projects ranging from small to large scale, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and committed timelines.The Project Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for customers and represents the organization throughout the project lifecycle. This includes coordinating activities between customers, internal departments, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.Key responsibilities include gathering and validating customer requirements, developing project scopes, and overseeing projects through design, scheduling, and field construction phases to meet agreed-upon delivery dates. The role also involves estimating customer and system loads, preparing cost estimates, identifying required permits, and generating work orders and related tasks for supporting departments. Additionally, the Project Coordinator evaluates distribution design requirements and assesses their impact on the existing system to support accurate work order development.The position requires coordination of all pre-requisites necessary for successful project completion, often requiring sound judgment and the ability to apply established procedures in practical and sometimes non-routine situations. Field visits may be required to meet with customers and support project execution.The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations, recommend viable alternatives, and implement corrective actions. A solid understanding of organizational policies and procedures is essential.In addition, the successful candidate will possess:Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to serve as a professional customer-facing representative Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and adapt quickly to changing demands Awareness of cross-functional impacts and the ability to anticipate downstream effects of decisions across systems and processes Proven leadership capabilities, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and/or relevant systems such as SAP, as well as other internal software platforms used for project management and quality control Strong ability to manage project milestones, schedule work assignments, and ensure timely completion of work orders Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, along with strong overall analytical and technical skills
