The team works across avionics, weapons systems, ground-based defense, and space systems.Job DescriptionDesigns, develops, operates, and maintains embedded software and firmware components for safety-critical avionics systems. Applies engineering standards, processes, and tools across the full software development life cycle. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users, and cross-functional technical personnel.What you'll be responsible forDesign, develop, test, and debug device drivers, boot loaders, and built-in-test libraries for safety-critical avionics mission computersDevelop in C targeting the LynxOS/LynxElement Real-Time Operating System (RTOS)Collaborate with cross-functional teams on software/FPGA/hardware interfacesIntegrate custom-designed hardware and FPGAs with software in a lab environmentSupport documentation, error correction, and performance validationParticipate in certification activities including requirements and code reviews to ensure compliance with quality and safety standardsRequired Experience & SkillsExtensive embedded software development experience (16+ years with BS, or 14+ years with MS)Proficiency in C programming for embedded/real-time environmentsExperience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)Familiarity with device driver development and boot loader designExperience supporting safety-critical or certifiable software systemsFPGA integration experienceNice-to-havesExperience with LynxOS or LynxElement RTOS specificallyBackground in avionics or defense systemsFamiliarity with DO-178C or similar safety-critical certification standardsEducationBachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.Pay & Benefits SummaryHourly rate: $65.00 – $90.00 / hr. based on years of experience and education levelContract position No required overtime Owego, NY
