Pediatric Nephrologist

Children’s Nebraska,together with theUniversity of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC ), is currently recruiting a board certified/eligiblePediatric Nephrologistto join our team. The Division of Pediatric Nephrology is currently composed of six physicians, five advanced practice providers, specialized nephrology nurses, pediatric dialysis nurses, transplant coordinators, renal dieticians, a pharmacist, nurse case manager, and social worker with access to child life specialists, music therapists, and education specialists. This is a unique opportunity in Pediatric Nephrology with unlimited potential for career advancement at a strong, rapidly growing clinical and academic medical center. The position includes a competitive salary and a faculty appointment at UNMC, commensurate with prior rank and experience, and the opportunity for early career leadership roles including medical directorships.Our division provides full-service Nephrology care, including both inpatient and outpatient dialysis and pediatric kidney transplantation. Our physicians provide inpatient consultation and outpatient care at both Children’s Nebraska and Nebraska Medicine hospitals. Outpatient care involves prenatal consultation through transition to adult nephrology care. Our team works closely with our Pediatric Urology division and conducts multidisciplinary clinics with our urology providers. We participate in multidisciplinary prenatal consultations with Urology, Cardiology, Neonatology, Palliative Care and Genetics. As the only Pediatric Dialysis unit in the state, we provide comprehensive dialysis care including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and CRRT with NxStageTM and CarpediemTM. We also provide plasma exchange services at Children’s Nebraska. Our physicians manage the medical care of pediatric kidney transplant patients in close collaboration with the transplant program at Nebraska Medicine.Exciting research opportunities are available, with potential support from the Child Health Research Institute, NIH ECHO and IDeA states funding. Existing research projects involve collaboration with Neonatology, Biochemistry, Nutrition, and industry-sponsored clinical trials. Our providers are active in research and QI collaboratives including the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium, SCOPE, IROC, WE-ROCK and ICONIIC.Children’s Nebraska is a 225-bed nonprofit organization caring for children since 1948. Children’s is the only full-service, pediatric healthcare center in Nebraska providing expertise in more than 50 pediatric specialty services to children across a five-state region and beyond. At Children’s Nebraska, we are home to a 55-bed NICU that is the only Level IV NICU in the region, and home to Nebraska’s only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. Our 32-bed PICU is staffed 24/7 with pediatric intensivists with advanced life support therapies including our dedicated pediatric ECMO team. Children’s Nebraska also houses a first-in-the-region 32-bed Cardiac Care Unit with advanced cardiac imaging and state-of-the-art interventional cardiac catheterization labs. Children’s addition of the Hubbard Center in 2021 expanded our surgical space, NICU, cardiac care unit, radiology and emergency department. In January 2026, the Behavioral Health & Wellness Center opened its doors. This 103,000 square foot, state of the art facility provides a welcoming, inclusive and healing environment for children and families.As the leading academic health system in the region, the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Nebraska Medicine have built a worldwide reputation for premier education programs, innovative research and extraordinary patient care. UNMC partners with Nebraska Medicine Hospital to provide patient care in key disciplines including primary care, subspecialty care, and solid organ transplantation. Nebraska Medicine has a very active pediatric transplant program which includes liver, small bowel, multi-organ, and kidney transplantation. We average approximately 10 isolated pediatric kidney transplants annually.Omaha enjoys four distinct seasons, along with an exciting metropolitan community and a population of nearly one million.
