Construction Material Testing Technician II/III

Job Details Level: Experienced – Location: O'Fallon, IL 62269 – Position Type: Full Time – Education Level: High School – Salary Range: $22.00–$31.00 per hour SCI Engineering, Inc. is a professional consulting and engineering firm offering a variety of services from the design development stage through construction. We specialize in Geotechnical, Environmental, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources and Construction Material Testing. Responsibilities Obtain required IDOT certifications (Nuclear Density, Mixture Aggregate Technician, Portland Cement Concrete). Perform various tests and inspections on construction materials. Prepare written and electronic reports on test results and inspection findings. Communicate test results to site and office personnel verbally and in writing. Supervise or train less‑experienced staff as needed. Adhere strictly to safety procedures and industry standards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Present information clearly in one‑on‑one and small group settings to customers, clients, and colleagues. Perform basic arithmetic in all measurement units, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Understand and apply common sense to carry out instructions, whether written, oral, or diagrammatic. Identify and solve problems involving multiple variables within standardized situations. Use a smartphone for basic tasks as required. Apply logical problem‑solving approaches to complex issues. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience not required; at least one year of relevant experience preferred. Ability to travel to the office and job sites daily. Valid driver’s license with current driver’s insurance. Availability for overtime and weekend work as needed. Physical ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds regularly. Enjoyment of working outdoors.
