Medical AssistantMidwest Immunology & Minnesota Center for Multiple Sclerosis, a Vivo Infusion Company is excited to invite a motivated Medical Assistant to join our growing team in Plymouth & Woodbury, MN!Our Medical Assistants play a crucial role within the infusion center as part of a collaborative medical team. The individual in this role will be responsible for welcoming patients, assisting medical staff, and delivering safe, compassionate care in accordance with all external and internal guidelines and regulations.We are looking for a Medical Assistant with prior administrative experience, strong initiative, and the ability to work independently. Will be needed at secondary location as needed.Reports to: Medical Practice Nurse ManagerLocations:Home Location: 15655 37th Ave N, Suite 260, Plymouth, MN 55446Secondary location: 652 Bielenberg Drive Suite 101 Woodbury, MN 55125Primary Responsibilities:Performs a variety of patient care activities rendering quality patients in accordance with standards of practice.Room clinic patients in person or virtually and update patient chart with the required informationCommunicate pertinent patient data to providers and nurses to ensure quality and continuity of patient careProvide administrative and front-end support: Greet patients, assist with scheduling, manage phone calls (incoming and outgoing), and process payments.Oversees and ensures efficient turnover of exam roomsAssist provider in the exam room as requestedCollect, prepare, and submit ordered patient lab specimens as directed.Assist Patient Services team as needed to obtain prior authorizations for prescribed treatments and documents.Triage patient phone calls and messages and document them appropriatelyOrders and manages supplies under the direction of managerDisinfect and stock the exam rooms.Assist in obtaining records required for the patient's chartDemonstrate effective communication skills, reporting patient issues as needed throughout the treatment day.Follow company policies and CDC guidelines for infection control.Secondary responsibilities:Assist with proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.Maintain confidentiality of all company and patient records. Adhere to HIPPA.Communicates schedule changes to the team and assists with rescheduling patients.Manages incoming mail and deliveries.Qualifications:Education and ExperienceHigh school graduate or equivalent, required.Medical Assistant Certification, preferredCPR/BLS, required prior to start date.1 year of experience working within a clinical environment, required.1 year in an administrative, patient-facing, or customer service role, required.Phlebotomy and lab processing skills, preferred.SkillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently as needed.Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate professionally and effectively with other staff members, patients and physicians.Must possess computer skills for electronic recordkeeping.Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
