Head Start Lead Teacher, Expanded Pre-K (3-year-olds)

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have, or obtain within three years of hire, a valid NYS teaching certificate to include Nursery through 4 year olds; e.g.: Birth through 2nd Grade or Nursery through 6th Grade. 4-year degree in Early Childhood Education or related field that includes at least 18 completed credit hours in Early Childhood Education. One year of experience leading a pre-school classroom team. Basic computer skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of 3-year-old children in a classroom setting, directing the work of a Teacher Assistant and Aide and volunteers. Provide and maintain a safe, healthy, learning environment and ensure that children are appropriately supervised at all times. Advance physical and intellectual competence to promote higher-level thinking skills. Complete child assessments in a timely manner, three times per year, and conduct individual child observations on a regular basis. Ensure that all of the sponsoring school district’s educational and record-keeping requirements are met. SCHEDULE: Full-time, school weekdays 7:30am to 3:30pm, with paid leave including all school year holidays and breaks, 45 weeks per year.
