Company DescriptionBennett Hartman, LLP, a progressive workers’ rights law firm located in downtown Portland, is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to support its workers’ compensation law practice team and provide other support to a small team of attorneys as needed. This is an exceptional opportunity to secure a long-term position with one of the few law firms with unionized staff. QualificationsHave 2+ years of legal assistant, paralegal, or comparable experienceBe detail-orientedPossess excellent organizational skillsHave strong capabilities in docketing, calendaring, and managing legal correspondenceBe proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook and be able to learn other computer applicationsExhibit outstanding written and telephonic communication skills Have comfort with high-volume email communication and client interactionBe service-driven and conscientious of client’s needsDemonstrate active listening skills to identify issues, spot key facts, and take notesHave the ability to switch between tasks regularly Role DescriptionSome knowledge or background in workers’ compensation, insurance claims, and/or civil litigation is preferred. This position contemplates a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in-office and 2 work-from-home days per week. This is a union, full-time, hourly-paid position starting between $25 – $30 per hour with opportunity for bonuses and wage increases.
