We don’t sell to a customer just once; we want to be their jeweler for life!Ben Bridge Jeweler's corporate office in Downtown Seattle is seeking a qualified Appraiser to join our team.Job SummaryThe Appraiser assists with jewelry appraisals and ensures new merchandise meets the company’s gemological standards as outlined by the Vice President of Merchandise. This position requires teamwork within the Quality Control and Appraisal departments as well as with our Buyers, VP of Merchandise and our retail stores.Primary Duties And ResponsibilitiesAssist in preparing customer appraisals including evaluating jewelry, researching replacement pricing, and documenting official appraisalIdentify and measure various gemstonesPhotograph jewelry to document for inventory control and appraisals purposesGrade Diamonds according to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) scaleTest metalsInspect all stones to determine they are genuine per gemological standardsExamine jewelry to ensure it meets company’s gemological and quality standardsAssess gems and jewelry for proper hallmarks and karat stampsAnalyze quality of metal work and check tightness of jewelry settingsVerify gem certificationsPrepare proper documentation for any gems or jewelry that are classified as Quality Control rejectionsOther assorted distribution tasksEducation And ExperienceMinimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Advanced degree is a plus.Certified Gemologist Appraiser title or National Association of Jewelry Appraisers membershipAt least 2 years of experience appraising jewelryKnowledge And SkillsAble to operate standard gemological instrumentsExceptional attention to detailDemonstrate analytical and creative problem solvingFactual, articulate and professional written communication skillsExcellent verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize and self-manage within strict timelinesWorking StandardsWorks in office 5 days a weekTravel will be required dependent upon business needsRange: $40.86 - $45.67 per hourFluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience levels, knowledge, skills, and abilities.As a full-time associate, you will be eligible for health and welfare benefits.
