Machine Operator II

CNC Machine OperatorPGS Worldwide is currently seeking experienced CNC Machine Operators to join a major defense manufacturer in Aiken, SC. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. We have openings available on both 2nd Shift (10-hour shifts) and Weekend Shift (12-hour shifts). We are looking for skilled operators to handle machining, fabricating, and processing parts to support critical production goals.Required Skills and QualificationsExperience: Minimum of 2 years of CNC machine-controlled equipment experience in a metal cutting/metal working manufacturing environment.Technical Skills: Ability to apply shop math, read and interpret blueprints, and calculate dimensions.Quality Control: Proficiency in using gauges and measuring tools to determine the quality of a part.Physical Requirements: Ability to reach up to 50 inches, lift 30 pounds, apply 30 pounds of torque to ratchets, and step up 14 inches onto a forklift.Material Handling: Ability to operate hoists, pallet jacks, and forklifts (requires passing a certification test).Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.Preferred SkillsEducation: 2-year Machine Tool Technology Degree.Advanced Experience: 4 years of experience setting up and operating CNC Mills, Lathes, or presses.Machine Specifics: 2 years of experience with 3-Axis (Mazak, Haas, Makino, Onsrud) or 5-Axis (Parpas, Cincinnati, Mitsubishi, Yami Seiki) machines.Specialty Machines: Experience with water jet or laser cutting CNC machines.Job Responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for operating equipment with CNC controllers to machine parts to blueprint specifications. You will ensure safety, quality, and delivery targets are met while maintaining a clean work environment.Set machine controls, measure and load tools, fixtures, and programs, and operate the machine.Load and unload parts onto machines and fixtures from pallets or containers using hand tools and hoists.Machine parts strictly to blueprint specifications.Perform quality checks on parts using precision measuring instruments.Troubleshoot problems and recommend or take corrective action as needed.Use hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts to move parts, materials, and fixtures to and from storage areas.Complete paperwork for work orders, labor reporting, and quality records.Train other operators and perform other duties as necessary.
