This role drives process quality planning, in-process controls, and rapid problem-solving across SMT and automated test operations, ensuring product conforms to workmanship standards and customer requirements before it ships. The ideal candidate has hands-on SMT/electronics contract manufacturing experience and is comfortable working directly on the line with operators and technicians.Key responsibilities:Product/Process Quality PlanningLead APQP activities for new product introductions, including control plans, process flow diagrams, and PFMEA developmentSupport internal PPAP readiness and process validation ahead of customer submissionsDevelop and maintain PFMEAs and drive risk mitigation actions at the process levelParticipate in Design/Process Reviews and support DFM/DFA initiatives with engineeringManufacturing Quality OversightProvide quality engineering support for SMT and automated test operations, including functional test (FCT) and in-circuit test (ICT)Apply IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 acceptance criteria for workmanship, soldering, and inspection standardsEstablish and monitor SPC, first article inspections, and in-process quality checksInvestigate escapes, defects, and yield issues at the line level, partnering with production and process engineeringOwn line-level containment and disposition decisions for nonconforming productProblem Solving & Continuous ImprovementLead structured problem-solving using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and other RCA methodologiesDrive Six Sigma / Lean initiatives to reduce variation, scrap, and rework on the production floorOwn customer complaint response (8D/CAPA) related to manufacturing escapes, ensuring timely containment and root cause closureTrack and report manufacturing quality metrics (DPPM, FPY, Cost of Quality, scrap trends)Systems & Customer ComplianceMaintain manufacturing quality processes in accordance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 requirementsEnsure compliance with customer-specific requirements (CSRs) for automotive OEM accounts on the production floorSupport internal, customer, and third-party audits related to manufacturing processesApply VDA 6.3 process audit methodology to internal manufacturing processesRequired qualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical) or equivalent experience3+ years of quality engineering experience in electronics manufacturing (EMS/contract manufacturing or automotive electronics preferred)Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 (Certified IPC Trainer/CIT a plus)Demonstrated experience with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA 6.3Proficient in core tools: APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPCStrong background in 8D, root cause analysis, and Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred)Hands-on experience with SMT processes (reflow, AOI, X-ray, SPI) and automated test (FCT/ICT)Comfortable working directly on the production floor with operators, technicians, and process engineersExcellent analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skillsPreferred qualificationsExposure to ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and its application to electronics/software qualityFamiliarity with AEC-Q100/AEC-Q200 component qualification standardsSix Sigma Black Belt certificationCertified VDA 6.3 Process AuditorExperience supporting automotive OEM customer audits and scorecardsWork environmentManufacturing floor environment; ability to move throughout production areas for the majority of the shiftOccasional travel for customer visits and audits (approximately 5%)Eagle Wireless offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid vacation and paid parental leave to support you and your family.
