If you're inspired by growth and want to make a real difference, Best Egg is the place for you.We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse, inclusive team.We are seeking a strategic and highly experienced Senior Director of Credit Risk Oversight to lead our Second Line of Defense (2LOD) credit risk function, supporting our unsecured and secured personal loan products. This role will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the credit risk governance framework across the consumer lending portfolio, including credit underwriting, pricing, loan amount, portfolio performance, credit policy governance, and risk appetite. The Senior Director will provide independent oversight and credible challenges to first line credit strategies while driving portfolio-level insights, risk appetite alignment, and governance for a growing FinTech platform.This role will also be instrumental in building and scaling the 2LOD credit oversight team, ensuring strong alignment with regulatory expectations and enterprise risk management practices.Key Responsibilities:Lead and evolve the 2LOD credit risk oversight framework, including policies, standards, and governance practicesProvide independent oversight and credible challenge across underwriting, line management, pricing, and customer lifecycle strategiesEstablish clear risk appetite frameworks, limits, and thresholds for credit performanceOversee end-to-end portfolio performance, including originations, vintages, delinquencies, charge-offs, and profitabilityOwnership of identifying emerging risks, evolving trends, and portfolio concentration opportunitiesTranslate portfolio-level risk insights into actionable recommendations that inform strategy decisions and support key decision-makingUnderstanding of marketing and growth strategies impacts to ensure alignment with credit risk appetite and portfolio objectivesReview expansion strategies (e.g., new segments, channels, or products) for risk implicationsPartner with Finance and Risk teams on portfolio forecasts, stress scenarios, and performance outlooksEnsure consistency between risk appetite, business growth targets, and portfolio outcomesEnsure adherence to consumer lending regulations and supervisory expectations (e.g., ECOA/Reg B, FCRA, UDAAP, etc.)Oversee fair lending risk management, including model bias, segmentation, and policy impactsServe as a key point of contact for regulatory exams, internal audit, and risk reviewsDevelop and deliver portfolio risk reporting, dashboards, and executive insights to senior leadership and risk committeesPresent portfolio performance, emerging risks, and strategic recommendations to executive stakeholdersEnsure transparent and effective risk communication across the organizationBuild, lead, and develop a high-performing 2LOD credit risk oversight teamProvide direction and oversight to Director-level team members across:Credit Risk OversightCollections/Recovery & Loss OversightFraud Risk OversightFoster a strong risk culture and promote effective challenge across the organizationProvide oversight of new product launches, credit strategy changes, and FinTech innovationsEnsure appropriate governance for advanced analytics, alternative data, and AI/ML modelsDrive continuous improvement in risk frameworks, tooling, and analytics capabilitiesQualifications:1215+ years of experience in credit risk management, portfolio risk, or consumer lendingSignificant experience in 2LOD, enterprise risk management, or equivalent oversight rolesProven leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional risk initiativesDeep expertise in credit underwriting, portfolio management, and risk strategy developmentExperience within a FinTech and/or regulated banking environmentStrong familiarity with model governance, loss forecasting, and stress testing frameworksExperience overseeing multi-product consumer lending portfoliosSkills & Competencies:Analytical thinker with the ability to connect portfolio performance, business strategy, and risk appetiteComfortable navigating a dynamic, fast paced environment, managing shifting priorities while leading and developing others through changeStrong leadership and organizational influence skillsAdvanced analytical and risk assessment capabilitiesExcellent executive communication and presentation skillsAbility to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving FinTech environment$160,000 - $180,000 a year This position is also eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
