Medical Counselor/Direct Support Professional(DSP)

Schedule: Full-Time: Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm Some Job Responsibilities: Medical Counselors/DSP are responsible to ensure that the individuals at their site receive support that is consistent with Support with Dignity and the Core Competencies. Medical Counselors/DSP are responsible to advocate for those they support. The Medical Counselor is expected to advocate for the individuals they support at all times, including medical appointments. Medical Counselors/DSP are responsible to participate in trainings that will help them better understand and support the individuals they work with. Medical Counselors/DSP are responsible to maintain the Medical Administration Record (MAR) and to complete paperwork and billing documentation timely and accurately. Medical Counselors/DSP must perform Direct Support Professional (DSP) duties as needed, including maintaining minimum ratios/proper levels of supervision, assisting with ADLs, supporting individuals in achieving goals, and managing challenging situations. Job Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. Complete and maintain AMAP, Center Authorized Driver and SCIP certification, as per CDD policy. At minimum, 6 months experience with Individuals with ID / DD. Valid NYS Driver’s License. Must be able to sit, stand, lift 50 lbs. and bend throughout the day.
