Climate organizing, Climate actionSummer Job: Community Organizing CoordinatorType: age 30 & under / summerProject: Elevating Community-Rooted Climate Justice in CanadaEmployer: Small Change FundLocation: Remote (anywhere in Canada), with preference for Toronto or VancouverCompensation: $25/hour plus 4% vacation pay, paid in accordance with applicable provincial employment standards. This is a temporary full-time contract position for approximately 12 weeks (June–August 2026), based on 36 hours per week. Employees are paid on a semi-monthly basis.The Community Organizing Coordinator would plan local actions and support a wider network of climate justice organizers as part of Small Change Fund’s partnership project with 350.org, Elevating Community-Rooted Climate Justice in Canada. This project aims to change harmful energy policies and expose the real costs of pollution. We equip climate organizers with the tools, resources, and skills to engage the public, organize in their communities, and mobilize to demand strong climate action policies and secure institutional wins that reduce emissions and advance justice.About Small Change Fund And 350.orgSmall Change Fund acts as a catalyst for individuals and grassroots organizations. We work together with partners to improve the environment; reduce poverty; and promote reconciliation efforts across Canada including working with Indigenous Peoples to support the protection of their lands, waters and communities.350’s mission is to keep carbon in our atmosphere to a safe level, below 350 parts per million. We do this by mobilizing ordinary people to campaign for universal access to clean energy and an end to fossil fuels.Tasks And ResponsibilitiesThe Community Organizing Coordinator would plan local actions and support a wider network of climate justice organizers as part of Small Change Fund’s partnership project with 350.org, Elevating Community-Rooted Climate Justice in Canada.Recruit local organizers, volunteers, chapters, and climate groups to participate in national initiatives, campaigns, and/or mobilizations to counter climate misinformation, lift up climate action, and build capacity in the climate movement.Contribute to resource development, training delivery, and support provision to facilitate this network’s engagement and participationSupport with research and writing for campaign materials, websites, and communicationsPlan and lead community-based events locallyHelp distribute Toxic Trivia tools in communities across the countryWork with 350.org staff to remotely support local hosts for a national day of actionCoordinating mail-outs of resources and materials to organizers across the countryMostly remote position with some in-person meetings, events, and/or office time.The Community Organizing Coordinator will report to the Vice President of Projects at Small Change FundQualificationsA commitment to anti-oppression principles, and intersectionalityBackground in grassroots organizingStrong grasp of climate justice principlesExcellent verbal and written communications skills, with fluency in EnglishFamiliar with facilitating meetings over Zoom or in-personExperienced with organizing events and actions on the groundStrong self-management capacity and organizational skillsEligibility: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Work Arrangement: This is a primarily remote position with occasional in-person meetings, events, and campaign activities.
