Thermal R&D Engineer

Are you ready to join a startup on the ground floor? Well, look no further - TauMat is hiring a thermal research and development engineer to be the newest member of our team! This role will involve the design, fabrication, and testing of electronic thermal management components at the research and development level with an eye toward manufacturability and commercialization. The individual who fills this position will work closely with us to develop thermal hardware and testbeds and characterize thermal performance on electronic and microelectronic devices (RF amplifiers, CPUs, etc.). Candidates should express an eagerness to join a new start-up on the ground floor with an opportunity for leadership and a pathway to ownership. TauMat is based in Silver Spring, MD in the Washington DC metro area; the position will initially involve hybrid remote and on-site work but will transition to primarily on-site work with ad-hoc remote work where appropriate as hardware is developed and testing capabilities are stood up. Highly qualified candidates should have a BS, MS, or PhD, along with 5+ years of relevant hands-on industry experience in:Analytical, numerical, and experimental heat transferDesign and fabrication of custom test setupsElectronic thermal managementExperience with RF and electronic devices (Si- and GaN-on-SiC based technologies)Experience with RF/electronic packages/packaging (cleanroom fabrication, plating, soldering, reflow, etc.)Experience with manufacturing and/or design of thermal components (i.e. heatsinks, cold plates, two phase cooling systems, etc.)Additional qualifications preferred: Phase change heat transferExperience with COMSOL/ANSYSExperience with 3D design software such as SolidWorksEligibility for US security clearanceAbout us: TauMat was founded at the start of 2023 by two former Army scientists. Our mission is to deliver device-, component-, and system-level transient thermal solutions. To date we have focused primarily on research and development to bring our cutting-edge materials-driven approach to address thermal problems in the energy, defense, and electronics sectors.
