Senior Scientist, Ex Vivo Assay Development

Position PurposeThe Senior Scientist will work collaboratively across the Research organization to support preclinical discovery efforts to understand the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and efficacy of novel compounds in disease models. This position requires a scientist with deep expertise designing and developing robust assays to investigate preclinical pharmacokinetic, pharmacological, and functional biomarkers in tissue samples. The Senior Scientist will report into the Executive Director of in vivo pharmacology.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimize preclinical PK, PD, and biomarker assays to support preclinical research efforts and bridge into early development activities.Use a high level of scientific judgment and creative thinking to adapt and/or create standard methods by applying breadth of knowledge and prior work experience.Work collaboratively within and across functions to support programs from early discovery through preclinical proof of concept and candidate selection to advance the company pipeline.Maintain excellent and timely record-keeping while adhering to aggressive timelines.Author study reports that may be used for regulatory filings and scientific manuscripts.Required Skills & ExperienceBachelor's degree with 16+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 10+ years of post-graduate experience (industry experience required). Degrees in Pharmacology, Neuroscience or relevant disciplines preferred.Deep experience developing and optimizing assays (MSD, ELISA, H-ECL, LCMS, qPCR) in complex matrices; IHC skills a plus.Experience working in drug discovery with an emphasis on neurology indications; experience working with oligonucleotides preferred.Designing and managing experiments at contract research organizations.Experience with PK/PD modeling a plus.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.Location(s)Stoke is located in Bedford, MA, and will be moving to a new location in Waltham, MA by the end of 2026. This lab-based position is currently based in Bedford and will later be based in Waltham.TravelThis position will require approximately 5% travel.Benefits & CompensationAt Stoke Therapeutics, we are committed to offering a comprehensive, competitive and thoughtfully designed total rewards program. The anticipated salary range for this role is $155,000 - $179,000. The final offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including role scope, experience and qualifications, education, market benchmarks, internal equity, and geographic location.
