Production and Installation Technician I (Temp Summer Hire)

Job Description The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:Assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, services or repairs simple instruments or equipmentConducts a variety of tests using established methods, prepares test specimens, adjusts and operates equipment, records test data, and points out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errorsAssembles components and sub-assemblies following wire prints, schematics and verbal instructionPositions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other and uses hand or power tools to secure parts in placeMounts assembled components on chassis, panel or circuit boardRoutes wiring and cabling through assembly to terminals according to color codes and solders or wraps wire around terminals to provide electrical connectionPerforms intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, cleaning, coating, epoxy bonding, wiring, stamping, etching and color coding parts and assembliesAssists in mounting equipment in cabinets or on shelves in vans, ships and test bedsPrepares assembly kits from detailed, itemized parts listing including the counting, marking, and verification of parts associated with each kitUses visual aids, drawings, verbal and written instructions to prepare automatic and manual production machinery and equipment to produce small coils and other parts to conform to specificationsOperates small lathes, drills, extruding machinery and similar equipment to produce specialized metal parts required for components and sub-assembliesPerforms other related duties as assignedTravel for a few weeks at a time throughout the yearThe hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $22.92/hr.This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance. You may be eligible to receive a cash payment in lieu of certain benefits.
