Billing ManagerLos Angeles, CA, USDenver, CO, USPhoenix, AZ, USMar 20, 2026Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a Billing Manager to be resident in Los Angeles, Phoenix or Denver. The Billing Manager leads a team within the Billing department whose primary accountabilities are executing the monthly billing cycle for assigned partners and clients and supporting partners in their billing administration. Among key responsibilities are managing the team's personnel; ensuring timely, accurate and quality work output; providing exemplary customer service to partners and enhancing practices and procedures. While this position requires tactical billing expertise, the nature of the role is one of leadership, management, oversight and problem solving.ResponsibilitiesManage the assigned team, which consists of team leads and billing analysts. This entails but is not limited to assigning work responsibilities; ensuring output quality and timeliness; resolving problems; training and mentoring and assessing work performanceEnsure smooth workflow, equitable assignment distribution and sufficient coverage during busier times, growth, attrition, PTO, etc.Proactively forge strong working relationships with assigned partners. Provide timely and candid communication on statuses, problems and timelinesSwiftly and effectively resolve billing and other issuesEnsure compliance with firm deadlines and policiesProactively recommend and implement process, procedural and policy enhancementsLiaise with and support finance functions outside of billingDevelop and conduct training sessions; maintain and enhance process documentationPromote a positive, energetic culture featuring accountability, strong communication, teamwork, collaboration and excellenceLead departmental projects and other tasks as assignedPerform duties with the highest of moral and ethical standardsDevelop comprehensive expertise on assigned staff's billing tasks and the firm's billing system and ebilling platformsUnderstand ebilling processes; liaise with ebilling team to ensure timely billing and problem resolutionUnderstand and manage key monthly billing dynamics: Prebill run and distribution process; invoice processing; client fee arrangements; billing guidelines; eBilling rejections, timekeepers and rates; matter maintenance; departmental mailboxes, ensuring responses are current and resolved; control reports (prepared not posted, etc.); departmental performance metricsProvide professional development (training/mentoring)Regular dialogue on performance and timely addressing of performance issuesProvide performance evaluations on assigned staff during the annual evaluation process and provide performance updates to management on an ongoing basisParticipate in recruiting, interviewing and transition of assigned staffOther duties as required to fully meet the requirements of this positionExperience & QualificationsBachelor's Degree preferably in finance, accounting or business administration, strongly preferred8+ years' experience working in a legal services environmentStrong knowledge in legal and electronic billingWell-developed legal billing software expertise; 3E preferredAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft SuiteStrong and credible leadership presenceProven ability to manage a group with diverse personalities and skill setsWell-developed ability to balance multiple prioritiesInnate customer service orientation and commitment to excellencePositive and energetic interpersonal and communication skillsInherently self-reflective, collaborative and team-orientedAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionTenacious problem solving and follow through capabilitiesMeticulous attention to detail, quality and accuracy, meeting deadlinesFlexibility to work beyond assigned hours when circumstances warrantSalaryPursuant with states' laws, the salary range for this position is $145,000 to $157,000 based on experience and local market.Dentons US LLP offers a competitive salary and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, profit sharing, short-term/long-term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, paid holidays and discretionary bonuses.Dentons US LLP is an Equal Opportunity Employer - Disability/Vet.
